The simple truth is that Greenbay is on fire right now, and Atlanta does not have what it takes to put those flames out. Yes, most people have Atlanta picked to win in this playoff matchup, but Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and company have had three back-to-back big wins, and the teams they beat were of the same caliber as Atlanta. Lets not forget that Greenbay and Atlanta already played against each other in the regular season, a game in which Packers players were less healthy, and a game that could have went either way ended with Atlanta’s narrow win. Greenbay is coming to Atlanta this weekend with revenge and momentum in mind, a recipe for success. You will see what I mean

The change-up in the House, now under Republican control headed by John Boehner, and the Senate, where Republicans picked up many seats, is a clear message from the American people that the change they wanted from the Democrats and President Barack Obama did not come fast enough for them. I mean, President Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress have already passed several significant legislative acts (healthcare, equal pay for women, financial reform to name a few), but Americans are still weary of the economy and the majority of us are not happy until we see the change in front of our face. This is unfortunate because a lot of these legislative acts passed under Democratic leadership will be better for our long-term good. But reality is reality and all we tend to see is short-term, and it is the short-term talk that we vote for in elections.

Now don’t get me wrong, many of us our right to think short-term over long-term because for example, as long as you don’t have a job there is no reason to be happy about the job stimulus you hear about. As long as you are not receiving proper medical coverage, there is no reason for you to be happy about a  new healthcare law you see in the news. But, at the end of the day it is the long-term policies that will help us most.

This brings me to the newly elected Republican leadership in Congress. I hear a lot of negative things about how the Republicans will use their power to effectively block every long-term initiative the President and Democrats propose in the future. This is a horrible misconception. Let me keep it real for you now: Now that Republicans are in control, they can’t just say “No” to everything, just as the President can’t say “No” to everything because Republicans are in control. I think the new Congress will yield more successful laws for the country than the previous Congress because now Republicans will be held more accountable in getting things done. There is no way the Republicans can get away with just saying “No” to everything when they have the majority. The American people will no longer accept “No” as a solution. If the Republicans want to maintain their newly-gained power, they have to deliver results. This means that the President and Republicans have no choice but to work together and make compromises to get more things done.

Education is the most important political issue  that we talk enough about but don’t do enough about in the United States. Why is this case? I have not got a clue. It’s seems obvious to me that at the center of every “unsolvable” problem – whether in our life, in our town, in our state, in our country – is a lack of knowledge or education. This new documentary highlights this problem and calls on our politics to refocus their priorities on the most important issue: education. They say knowledge is power for a reason.

Hottest political issue right now? — BP oil disaster —  yup, it’s so big that even the ever-disappointing economy of the United States is quickly sliding into second place in the list of top national political issues for President Barack Obama’s administration and all upcoming U.S. Senate races located around the Gulf of Mexico. I guess this shift in political priorities is reasonable considering that this is now the worst oil spill disaster in U.S. History.

How exactly is this playing out so far in political America? Well, Republicans are using the disaster to attack President Obama, accusing his administration of 1. failing at providing proper federal safety inpections of the U.S. oil-drilling industry, and 2. reacting to the incident too late. Democrats, the President in particular, seem to be using a “get angry at BP” strategy which appears to be intensifying as we get closer to the mid-term Senate elections and as BP gets closer to getting further away from a solution to the oily mess they have created.

My assessment of this latest dramatic change in our political climate: “politics as usual” I believe is the more popular phrase tossed around these days, and stands more true now in this situation than ever — In this situation neither party is more right than the other. Both sides should be equally angry with BP, and both sides should have responded earlier to the crisis as it unfolded, or in this case leaked all over the Gulf of Mexico. The responsibility lies on our U.S. Congress and Presidential administration as a whole, regardless of party lines, to be able to produce the policies that should have prevented an event like this from ever being possible. Furthermore, the Federal government’s safety inspections of the U.S. oil-drilling industry were conducted by the same Federal Agency in the same manner as in the previous administration of George W. Bush; so this political punch in particular on the part of the Republicans packs little to no legitimacy as they prepare their attempt to  K.O. Democrats in November.

Conclusion: Everyone shares the Epic Fail card for this one.

It’s 2010

Today, globalization is like the global warming of competition in almost every industry. If you work in the private sector like me or in a startup company specifically, you need to embrace the basic training mentality of our soldier friends. You should be eating, drinking, sleeping, and even breathing your business, at least until you get it off the ground, but even then you have to do what it takes to win. Why wait to win later when you can win now?

I have been fortunate to get to know and learn from some of you who are doing what it takes to win in many different areas. Some of you are in the NFL now because of your hard work, (One of you already intercepted a pass from Peyton Manning). One of you has been a top 10 NCAA College basketball player for the last four years. One of you is Mrs. Colombia, one is Mrs. Virginia (Mrs. USA next week i hope). One of you is a musical celebrity in Washington D.C. and this is only the beginning for you   One of you is soaring in his career working with an awesome Web Design company. One of you is an extremely successful movie producer. One of you has her own cooking show. Some of you are happily married. Some of you have your dream job because of your hard work.  One of you is serving herself by serving others less fortunate in the Dominican Republic.  Finally and most importantly, many of you are fighting for our country just so that we can have the ability to wake up every day and even have the chance to win.

This is just a message to tell those of you who are already rockin, keep up the good work; and to those who are struggling, you are not alone, but try to step your game up (i admit i need to step my game up too) and do what it takes to win because this “ain’t no picnic;” its actually your wake-up call from your competitors saying, “we’re already awake “

Too bad Brett Favre couldn’t be in this game, loser.
